THERE was little joy for the four Hampshiremen in action at the Gerry Weber Centre in Halle during the PartyPoker.net German Darts Championship which boasted a prize fund of over €100,000.
In the opening round Andy Jenkins won 3-0 over Dietmar Burger and James Wade also had a 3-0 win over Chris Sehmann. Colin Monk beat Michael Rosenauer 3-2 but Ian Jopling lost 3-1 to Steve Hine.
In the second round, the three survivors all lost and had to be content with €450 each. Wade was beaten 3-1 by Bristolian Steve Brown, Monk was beaten 3-0 by Mervyn King and Jenkins lost narrowly 3-2 to Kevin McDine.

James Wade hits 9 darter but Anderson wins through
JAMES WADE hit a magical nine darter in his clash with WDF number one Gary Anderson at Wolverhampton but Anderson ran out a 10-8 winner.
Wade capped a comeback from 5-3 down to move 7-5 up with his first televised perfect leg, hitting back-to-back 180s before landing treble 20, treble 19 and double 12.
However, that was not enough for the UK Open champion, who saw Anderson hit five 180s in as many legs to pull through for victory.
"The nine-darter is irrelevant because I played badly and that alone wasn't enough to win me the game," said Wade.
"I believed I would do a job and had chances after the nine-darter and didn't take them, but I wasn't consistent enough over the course of the game."
The first two legs were shared on double top before Anderson wasted four darts at a double in the third before Wade stepped in to lead.
A 116 finish saw the Scot level, but a missed bullseye let Wade in on double eight for a 3-2 lead.
Anderson took the next three as the duo traded 180s, giving the 2007 semi-finalist a 5-3 cushion before three successive double top finishes from Wade - including checkouts of 102 and 101 - put him 6-5 up.
He then brought the Wolverhampton Civic crowd to its feet with his stunning nine-darter, only for missed doubles in the next to allow Anderson back in.
Anderson hit six perfect darts in leg 14, and levelled on double 16 after a potential nine-darter in reply went begging.
A two-dart 64 finish from Wade saw him move 8-7 up, but a 180 to lead a checkout in the next was not enough as Anderson took out double top to square matters again.
Anderson then hit a 180 to begin leg 17 before taking out 118 for a 12-darter to break Wade's throw, before sealing his win on double four.
"James wasn't at his best," said Anderson. "He is a heavy scorer but he never got going and I'm pleased to be through to the quarters."

Andy Jenkins edged out at PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts
ANDY JENKINS was narrowly beaten by Simon Whitlock at the Wolverhampton Civic this evening.
The bearded Australian continued his impressive start to the tournament to end Jenkins' hopes, three days after the Portsmouth man had defeated Phil Taylor in the round robin phase.
Jenkins eventually paid the price for missed doubles, as Whitlock - who hit six 180s - capitalised to reach the last eight.
Whitlock made an ideal start, with a maximum in the opening leg setting up double 18 to break throw, after Jenkins missed three darts at double 16.
The Australian then took the second in 14 darts with a two-dart 80 checkout only for Jenkins, fired by a 180 in the third leg, to take three in a row and lead.
Whitlock levelled and took out 90 on double 15 to square the game once more at four-all, only for Jenkins to land a maximum in taking the ninth leg.
Double top put Whitlock level again, and he stepped in following two missed doubles to break throw in the 11th and regain the lead.
The next four legs also went against the throw to leave Whitlock 8-7 up, before the pair traded 180s in leg 16, only for five misses from Jenkins to let the Australian off the hook as he hit double four to move a leg away from victory.
Jenkins took out 95 on double 16 to stay in the game, but a 180 to begin the next leg pushed Whitlock clear and he sealed the win on double ten.
"It was one of the toughest games I've ever played," said Whitlock. "I seemed to break throw and then he would break back, but I'm very relieved to win."
Jenkins admitted: "Simon hit some 180s at the right time and a few crucial breaks, and he deserved to win.
"I kept coming back at him but he'd break me. I'm gutted to lose but defeating Phil Taylor was memorable and I've enjoyed the tournament."

James Wade tops his group in PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts
JAMES WADE sealed top spot in Group G with a 5-3 win over Adrian Lewis at Wolverhampton.
The defeat means Lewis is eliminated and Ovens progresses from the group along with number three seed Wade.
Wade will face the runner up in Group H in Thursday's last sixteen knockout match.

Andy Jenkins loses to Phill Nixon at Wolverhampton
ANDY JENKINS was unable to reproduce the form of last night in his last group match with Phill Nixon at the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts and let slip a 3-1 interval lead.
Nixon reeled off four legs in a row to win 5-3 and salvage some pride although progress to the knockout stage was impossible.
Jenkins will finish second in Group A and will now play the winner of Group B in the last sixteen on Wednesday.

James Wade beats Denis Ovens in the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts
JAMES WADE overcame stern opposition from Denis Ovens at Wolverhampton. He came back from 3-1 behind to win by 5-3 recording an average of over 111.
Wade completes his group matches tomorrow evening against Adrian Lewis while Denis Ovens faces Niels de Ruiter.

Andy Jenkins beats Taylor at Wolverhampton
ANDY JENKINS inflicted the first television defeat since June on Phil Taylor as he checked out on 104 to win 5-4 at the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts at Wolverhampton.
Jenkins now heads the table with two wins and is assured of progress before he faces Phill Nixon in tomorrow's final group game.
Defending PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts champion Taylor now faces a winner-takes-all battle with Vincent van der Voort on Monday night.
Jenkins produced a superb performance to record the first win over Taylor in his career and ensure his spot in the last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts.
He led 2-0 and 3-2 before Taylor hit back to lead, but the Portsmouth man sent the game into a decider before hitting a sensational 12-darter against the throw to take victory.
"I'm so proud to have beaten Phil," said Jenkins. "He's the best player ever and it means a lot to me.
"Getting into the second round was always going to be tough but I knew I had to play that well if I was going to beat Phil and I did it."
Jenkins took out a 15-darter to break throw in the opening leg, following two misses from Taylor, and then landed a 180 and double six to step in and double his advantage.
Taylor kicked into gear to win leg three, with a 180 pushing him clear before he took out double ten to get off the mark and then hit three successive 140s in the next to level.
A fine 11-darter put Jenkins 3-2 up, only for Taylor to respond and win leg six, before double top in the next put him front for the first time.
Jenkins won leg eight on double 16 to send the game into a decider, which he opened with a 180.
He added a 140 before setting up a finish, and took out 104 with Taylor waiting on 68 to claim the biggest win of his career.
"I didn't play badly but Andy played some great darts under pressure and showed a lot of bottle," said Taylor.
"His confidence grew after winning the first leg and full credit to him.
"I know what I have to do and I've no choice but to win or go home. It's as simple as that and it's knockout darts for me now against Vincent - but that will bring out the best in me."

FORMER Olympian Steve Backley hit the winning double to win the first PartyPoker.com Pro-Celebrity Challenge live on ITV4.
Wins over Peter Manley and David "Devilfish" Ulliott and Raymond van Barneveld and Phil Tuffnell saw Wade and Backley reach the final where they faced Phil Taylor and Neil Ruddock.

EIGHT future stars of darts will be showcased on Nuts TV next month - with the winner of the New Kids on the Oche receiving their entry fees paid for all 2009 PDC events.
The New Kids on the Oche tournament sees eight players under the age of 21 face off over four one-hour programmes to be shown every night from 9pm on December 9-12 on Nuts TV.
Nuts TV can be found on Sky Guide 196 and Freeview channel 42.
Two players - Ricky Williams and Joe Cullen - already have experience of playing in a major tournament from the Blue Square UK Open, while Arron Monk is the son of professional star Colin.
All have played on the PDC Pro Tour, but the winner of the tournament will have his entry fees paid for all PDC tournaments in 2009 - worth over £4,000.
