Blue Square UK Open Welsh Regional Final

JAMES WADE lasted longest of the Hampshiremen at the Newport Centre this afternoon, reaching the last 16 of the last of the eight Blue Square UK Open regional finals before losing to Mark Walsh.

Andy Jenkins was edged out in the last 32 by Yorkshireman Mark Lawrence.

Ian Critchett made the last 64, losing out to Co Stompé and Colin Monk lasted until the same round but was eliminated by Peter Manley.

All four will be in action next month at the Reebok Stadium at Bolton and they will be joined by Ian Jopling who has also qualified making it five Hamphiremen at the finals

128 of the World's top players take part and Wade and Jenkins will join the action in the third round, the last 64 as a result of their placings in the final UK Open table.

Colin Monk will begin in the second round but Ian Critchett and Ian Jopling will start their campaign in the opening round together with the other players rated 65th to 96th and the 32 Holsten Pub Qualifiers.

No Hampshire based players survived the regional rounds of the Holsten Pub Qualifiers.

Jamie Caven beat Alan Tabern to take the £6,000 top prize and celebrate his first Pro Tour win.
