JAMES WADE reached the last eight of the £30,000 Welsh Players Championship at the Newport Centre.
His run was ended by eventual finalist Mervyn King.
Andy Jenkins reached the last 32 but was defeated by Andy Hamilton.
Colin Monk made the last 64 where he lost to Ronnie Baxter.
Gary Anderson beat Mervyn King in the final to take the top prize of £6,000.
