JAMES WADE beat Colin Lloyd 6-4 in the final at the Moorways Leisure Centre, Derby to take the East Midlands Players Championship.
Colin Monk reached the last 32 before going down to the former World Champion Raymond van Barneveld.
Wade banked £6,000 and Gary Anderson picked up the rolling £1,200 prize fund for a nine dart leg earlier in the afternoon.
The second event of the weekend takes place at the same venue tomorrow.
